About the New Zealand Marine Sciences Society
The New Zealand Marine Sciences Society is a professional organisation created to bring marine biologists and other interested people together. It meets once a year in various venues to provide a forum for members to present information about their research.
The Society has an advocacy role in areas where it sees the need for conservation and education. You can check out the Society's website by clicking here.

About this site
Fiordland Underwater is the first of the Society's special interest web sites. It is hoped it will be used as a resource by teachers, students and others. We invite you to enter this site and learn more about one of the world's unique marine habitats set amongst the towering mountains and spectacular fiords of the South West New Zealand World Heritage Area, Te Waahi Pounamu. The photos are all copyrighted but you are encouraged to download them and use them in projects and reports. Commercial users should contact the copyright holder directly for higher resolution scans.
